The Plant 05 in Český Krumlov manufactures prisms for the entire Company. Plant 07, Company Headquarters, performs managing, financing, accounting, controlling, personnel, payroll, technological, development procedures, investments, sale and supply for the entire Company. The Plant 08 - maintenance - takes care of maintenance for most of the Company.

The Company is involved in cooperation with the Center of Practical Training through the educational program for apprentices with the subject of study as Framing Master - Gilding.
The manufacturing of mouldings and frames in Český Krumlov has more than a hundred-year old tradition. The works of joiners and gilding masters were already performed here in 1871. The first workshop of moulding and frame production was established in South Bohemia in 1859, when the entrepreneur Emanuel Furth began his frame and other various object manufacture in České Budějovice. The next company, named Taubl and Faber, arose a couple of years later, and both firms produced gilded objects and frames. Both firms employed from 61 to 63 workers. In 1860 a workshop was founded in Český Krumlov, at a time when the workers of Schonbauer performed restorations and constructions of altars and produced other objects for the interior equipment of churches. The pieces of land on the periphery of Domoradice village were bought by Ludvík and Leonard Schonbauer in 1880. On that location they build up a plant to manufacture picture mouldings and frames. The plant was put into operation in the second half of 1881, when that new trade was entered into the Commercial Register of the District. In the year 1893 Schonbauer employed 98 workers. The firm exported its own goods to all corners of Europe, to the Orient, Africa and Australia as well around 1893.
The period 1900 - 1945 was distinguished by a deep crisis and production stagnation with an incessant lack of essential funds. In the year 1915 Julius Tschunko purchased part of Schonbauer's property and imposed the executive process. In August of 1945 the plant entered into the state administration.
A fire broke out in the factory on October 25, 1947. The tremendous devastation had caused a loss valued at 2.5 million crowns. The renovation of the factory seemed to be impossible, but due to the efforts of the employees themselves, the entire work of reconstruction was completed in a few months.
In 1948 the factory became part of the National Enterprise Koh-i-noor, pencil production L. et C. Hardthmunth, České Budějovice, and three months later part of the National Enterprise Tofa Algrechtice (later Jablonec nad Nisou). The Company already had 196 employees in 1957 and was the biggest factory of its kind in the Český Krumlov Region.
In 1958 the factory created part of the National Enterprise Jihočeské dřevařské závody, České Budějovice, and on January 1, 1961 existed with the trade name Lira under the management of the Regional National Committee in Český Krumlov.
The building of a new Plant in Domoradice in 1967 and gradually the completeness of a Plant in Horní Planá, which was performed in three steps in course of the 70's and 80's and finished in the year 1995, were considered to be the significant moments for the development of the Company.
In 1991 the founder changed the form of company - it became joint-stock company which was privatized in 1994. Major stock-holder is multinational corporation Larson-Juhl from USA.
The construction of a new production hall and new drying chambers in the base Plant in Český Krumlov took place during the year 1996. In the context of full operation many organizational changes related with new machine installations were performed. A boiler house for wooden waste was completed at the Plant in Horní Planá. A project to filter the air and exhaust the sawdust started and was finished in the middle of 1997. Repairing of scantling machine passed in 1997 and wooden briquettes production (using logging waste) has started.
Till 1999 consider part of products distribution (intended for inland market) was realized through wholesaler's. Nowadays we provide final users, picture-framers and glaziers, with our products directly from the distribution stock in Česky Krumlov.
This step was preceded with construction of new distribution store and creating of offered assortment including cca 400 kinds of mouldings, frames and wide assortment of framing technologies and materials.
Direct supplies enable picture-framers to reduce their own stocks of moulding ledges and enlarge the range of offered goods. Service "chop"(=cut frame arms) and "join" (finished frames) is also an innovation.
It is, except currently stored products, also available (with specific conditions (= minimal quantity) to order some special assortment, which can be manufactured in LIRA as a custom-made product.
Detailed catalogue of our products is available on the company Internet sites www.lira.cz.
The Lira Český Krumlov Joint-stock Company's Representative Shops serve as sale and made-to-measure sections, bringing up the products and services of an important industrial regional enterprise into the form of final goods (particularly picture frames and framed artistic masterpieces) closer to inhabitants and a wide visiting public.

The network of Company Shops was gradually established at first in the border area of the Český Krumlov Region. In the last years it was extended to the capital city of Prague and Tábor.
